I’m an Alraune.
A plant monster girl.
Recently, I made an arrangement: in exchange for my nectar, I would receive food and bodyguard services.
My life is now surrounded by bees.
It feels just like being a spoiled idol. Or maybe a princess.
Occasionally, some naughty ones try to attack me, but every time, I smack them away with my vines.
Bad bees get punished!
Come to think of it, all worker bees are female, right?
Which means the ones guarding me like knights must be female.
My group of bee friends was a lily garden, a yuri paradise.
Is this an all-girls’ school?
The female knights gather around me.
If we’re going to group together like this, we need a club name.
Hmm… let’s call it the Forest Lily Club.
‘Good day.. Tell me, milady, where do you hail from?
Oh? You say you reside in the hive and they call you the queen?
Your Majesty, I am most honored that you always dispatch your knights to protect me.
I humbly request that you adopt me as your little sister and bind us in a sisterly bond. I wish to live under the queen’s protection.
So please appoint me as your sister, so I may call you “big sister” in proof of my devotion.’
By the way, in French, sister is called “sœur.” Funny how random knowledge like that piles up in an otaku’s brain.
Good day, my sister.
Just a moment ago, a bee tried to pollinate and slam me to the ground. I think that one was playing the “villainous noblewoman” role.
If she does something stupid again, she’ll meet a bad end, devoured by me.
You can’t always reincarnate, so be careful and value your life.
Some are naughty from time to time, but overall, they’re good bees if treated well.
Even now, see.
Yesterday I defeated a monkey-type monster called the Barbaffe.
I’m guessing its buddies didn’t like that, so today, they came back for revenge, all twenty-plus of them.
A whole troop of monkey monsters.
They even seem intelligent, some wielded swords, spears, and even bows.
A bit too dangerous, if you ask me.
I can’t handle this alone.
I tried extending my vines towards one of the monkeys. As a result, my vines were completely sliced off.
The first time that’s happened.
So I sent out a distress signal.
I regenerated my vines, stretching them high into the sky.
And what do you know, the sound of heavy wings flying through the air drew closer.
Yes! The female knights have arrived.
My friends—the bee monsters, Zornbiene—appeared like an elite squad.
The twenty armed monkeys faced roughly a hundred bees, each larger than the monkeys.
The result was a total sweep.
No matter how many weapons they wielded, the bee swarm’s simultaneous assault made it impossible for the monkeys to defend against everything. They were annihilated.
Before I knew it, a white bird came out of nowhere and began pecking at the monkey corpses.
It looked like a crow painted all white.
To think they’d be dealt another blow while they were already down. How pitiful these monkeys are.
Well then, little white bird, since you’re here… maybe I’ll try a taste.
Ah, it fled as soon as I moved a vine.
No matter. There’s plenty of food here.
Some of my bee knights were killed in the battle too, but I comfort them, naturally, with digestive fluids.
Chomp chomp.
Tonight’s dinner: fresh monkeys and bees.
The bees don’t seem angry even when their companions become my meal. Amazing, considering it’s all for nectar.
Carrying half the monkeys, the bees return to the hive for what I assume to be family dinner time.
Nice. Meanwhile, I always eat alone.
Sitting quietly and eating, I consider the future.
After surviving the pollination crisis, I’ve made a decision.
Yes, my goal from now on:
I don’t want danger anymore. No more betrayal, no more being hunted.
I’ll create a paradise that suits me.
A large forest full of thriving, friendly plants.
Surrounded by animals and monsters who adore me, all living in peace.
There, I’ll live quietly, photosynthesizing and enjoying my plant life.
This current situation is the first step.
If I expand my influence in the forest, I can secure a safe and peaceful plant life.
But that night, after setting my goal, I felt like I saw something strange. It was while I was sleeping with my buds closed.
The temperature around me suddenly spiked.
If I were human, I’d have been drenched in sweat, but luckily, plants don’t have to deal with that.
When I woke inside the bud, I sensed something passing overhead.
It looked like a plane on fire in the sky.
A glowing unidentified flying object.
Not from space, but still a UFO.
What was that?
I wondered, but it was night.
Time for flowers to sleep, so I didn’t open my buds again and went back to sleep.

Thinking back, I think that was the day it all began.
The day the rain stopped coming.
I didn’t yet understand it.
The words I’ve always whispered in my heart, ‘I want water’.
For a plant like me, that feeling is crucial.
And soon, I would experience it in a way I could truly feel, deep in my body.

Thank you for reading.
Tomorrow, I plan to update with two chapters in one day.
I appreciate your continued support
Next time: Teach Me to Dance for Rain.
TL’s Note:
Lilies are in Japan a symbol of the Yuri genre, so that’s what it means when it talks about lilies.
